Are you ready to be a part of a new technology construction company? Ironsides is breaking new ground. We are actively searching for new Team Members responsible for assisting the company in the installation of fiber optic cable throughout the Phoenix area. The individual will work with the company’s leadership as the  Underground Foreman. We are looking for a key team member.

The Underground Foreman is responsible for the daily supervising and installation of conduit and fiber in an underground environment via HDD techniques. Foreman is responsible to recognize, assess and control potentially hazardous situations in addition to maintaining the safety of the crews by giving direction regarding procedures, road safety, directional drill and trench safety and general oversight, thus helping to maximize productivity and efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise multiple crews

  • Daily presentation of Task Hazard Analysis

  • Daily record-keeping of completed work

  • Installation of fiber optic cable, conduit and hand-holes

  • Knowledge of multiple methods of installation HDD, Trenching, Plowing, Cable placement

  • Manage materials

  • Job planning

  • Maintain safety policies and procedures

  • Other duties may be assigned consistent with job description



  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in underground installation / Directional Drills

  • High School diploma or GED required

  • Previous experience and knowledge of underground utility construction a must

  • Working knowledge of HDD set up, operations and maintenance

  • Knowledge and understanding of reading engineered drawings and ability to follow specifications

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact with crew, leadership, and clients

We are seeking an experienced directional driller/directional laborers, to work on fiber optic projects throughout the Phoenix, AZ area. Candidates must have experience working around underground utilities and installing conduit and/or cables on either conduit or direct bury projects.Directional Boring company seeking utility construction and excavation laborers for fiber optic.



  • Utility potholing with vacuum excavator or hand digging to locate underground utilities.

  • Excavate bore pits and trenches by hand digging.

  • Cut/core and remove asphalt and concrete.

  • Back backfill pits and trenches, restore landscaping, irrigation systems, asphalt patching, concrete patching.

  • Push/pull cable or pipe; loading and unloading equipment, tools, materials; installing utility vaults, removing and hauling of concrete, asphalt or other materials, mix and place temporary asphalt patch or concrete patch, lay sod, rock and other landscape material.

  • Depending on experience you may operate equipment such as backhoe, trencher, cable pulling equipment.

  • Other tools and equipment used may include jack hammer, core drill, demo saw, pipe cutters, welder, fusing machine.

Job Requirements:

  • Some excavation experience preferred, but not required.

  • HS Diploma or GED required.

  • Must be eligible to work in the USA.

  • Must have valid drivers license and be eligible to drive.

  • Must pass a background check, drug test, and motor vehicle check.

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Position will have responsibility for using mechanical/technical equipment to accurately locate underground boring equipment and facilities, but may include telephone lines, electrical power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. The Directional Drilling Locator Technician position requirements include the ability for an individual to drive local roads, work outdoors, and to operate independently. Instructor led training is available.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Directional Drill Locate Technician will be responsible for performing the following duties:

  • Ability to communicate and interact daily with managers, crews, and homeowners to discuss locate issues.

  • Ability to use company provided locate equipment and technology to accurately locate underground bore heads from the directional drill.

  • Attend and pass instructor lead training.

  • Interpret job order tickets.

  • Read maps and blueprints.

  • Ability to work in and walk all types of terrain.

  • Use laptop computer to receive, document and email.

  • Perform other work related duties as assigned.


  • Successfully complete company provided locator training program and pass all required testing.

  • Requires the availability for call out, including some mandatory overtime.

  • May require weekend and holiday work when necessary.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds periodically to properly locate utility lines.

  • Ability to walk all types of terrain (grass, ditches, wooded areas, gravel, etc.) in and around construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas in all types of weather conditions.

  • Must be able to operate a computer to document and close tickets.
