Are you ready to be a part of a new technology construction company?Ironsides is breaking new ground. We are actively searching for new Team Members responsible for assisting the company in the installation of fiber optic cable throughout the state of Kentucky. The individual will work with the company internal aerial team. The position requires the ability to learn quickly and eventually be expected to implement taught construction techniques and procedures. We are looking for team members with the ability to be flexible in daily duties and open to cross-training on multiple teams. Be able to work 40+ hours / week, outside conditions, possess valid drivers license, ability to pass company drug screenings, and transportation to work.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as the lead of a 2 person overhead telecom construction crew.

  • Load, unload, layout and prep tools/supplies/equipment/materials needed at each job site.

  • Lead as required in all manual labor aspects of the project as directed by the Foreman or Supervisor.

  • Handle physically demanding aerial construction duties.

  • Requirements & Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license required. (Must possess or be able to obtain DOT health certification card.)

  • Bucket truck experience is required.

  • Must have aerial construction experience.

  • Must have 3+ years experience with aerial make-ready, strand, down-guy and anchors, and fiber installation on both wood and metal poles, lashing experience utilizing C-lashers and J-lashers.

  • Must be able to give clear instructions to ground hand and have good communication skills.

  • Must be able to clearly document and submit electronically all work completed daily in a neat and orderly fashion for submission to our client.

  • Must be able to follow instructions from Foreman or Supervisor.Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, dig, and reach.

  • Must be able to climb 28' to 32' ladders.

  • Must be able to climb using gaffs and Buck Squeeze safety belt.

  • Must be able to perform strenuous physical labor under all types of weather, terrain and challenging conditions.

  • Basic tools required to be used daily will be climbing tools (Climbing belt and Gaffs), basic hand tools etc.

  • Must be committed to working safely.

  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.

  • ATV (All Terrain Vehicle experience is a plus.)

  • Must be able to travel.

The primary responsibilities of the Outside Plant Technician Splicer will be to splice fiber optic cables in both outdoor and indoor settings, read, create and maintain splicing schematics and diagrams, maintain control of outside plant (OSP) activities surrounding the assigned worksite(s), taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes, support project timelines, and inspecting, designing and providing accurate staking sheets for projects.

Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned. This position requires fieldwork which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours.

Fiber Splicer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Splice fiber optic cables including both loose tube and ribbon optic cables.

  • Construct a proper splice case, including but not limited to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.

  • Prepare and maintain splicing records, schematics, and diagrams. m

  • Build graphical worksheets for contractors’ use and use drafting techniques in Visio and other required programs.

  • Understand Staking Sheets and ITD/UDOT blueprints.

  • Perform work in accordance with industry standards.

  • Be familiar with RUS standards, read and follow design engineers instructions and specifications, maintain the scope of work on the project and adhere to safety procedures. Prepare engineering field notes.

  • Interpret buried underground and aerial telecom facilities in records, on maps and in the field with clarity and detail and make recommendations for changes in running line or construction methodologies.

  • Facilitate conversion into CAD and Visio programs.

  • Enter and maintain outside plant records.

  • Participate in engineering, permit and construction processes to support project contracts. Perform routine maintenance.

  • Recognize and repair route issues including Hand Hole cleanup, sign placement, and weed control.

Fiber Splicer Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

  • Understanding of how to read Staking Sheets.

  • Knowledge of how to fusion splice both loose tube and ribbon fiber optic cables.

  • Know how to place a mid-sheath splice.

  • Working knowledge and experience of current computerized operations, CAD systems, and Visio.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications.

  • Proficiency with Google applications.

  • Ability to work with clients regarding engineering problems, confer with customer contacts while communicating with the Outside Plant Supervisor. Ability to pay close attention to detail and make good sound decisions based on the information given. Ability to multitask and stay organized under pressure.

  • Must hold a valid Driver’s License.

Education and Experience

  • One year experience of construction with Outside Plant Telecom Engineering.

  • A degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred (any engineering discipline acceptable).

  • Desirable work experience includes field engineering and project lead responsibility.

  • Supervisory experience a plus.

  • Strong computer skills

  • In-depth understanding of technology-based services, products, and networking. Experience in Project Management a plus

Team Ironsides is breaking new ground. We are actively searching for new team members responsible for assisting the company in the installation of small cells throughout the United States. We are currently searching for a highly talented and driven professional to fill a Small Cell Foreman position. The ideal candidate will have worked on Small Cell/Node builds in the Right of Way, have experience with setting poles and antenna mounting.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Managing and overseeing the construction of everything from trenching, cutting asphalt, running fiber and power through conduit, pole installation, and antenna mounting.

• Run 3 to 4 man crews.

• Ensure all safety standards and precautions are met

• Operate a bucket truck to install equipment on various pole types

• Provide basic groundwork during bucket truck operations

• Assist in inventory management; pick up and process all deliveries

• Execute the following technical duties on Small Cell Sites inclusive of the monopole, rooftop, and other structures

• Sweep Testing

• PIM Testing

• Timely communication with field crews on issues pertaining to Sweep and PIM results

• Assist Project Manager on close-out packages and database management Job Qualifications

• 3+ years experience in the wireless communication field with hands-on electrical work

Team Ironsides is breaking new ground. We are actively searching for new team members responsible for assisting the company in the installation of small cells throughout the United States. The primary responsibilities of the Small Cell Field Tech will be to perform field installations of utility light poles and carrier small cell equipment. Our field techs work closely with the Small Cell Foreman.

Taking and maintaining accurate splicing and field notes, support project timelines, and performing quality installations.

Other duties, responsibilities, and qualifications may be required and/or assigned. This position requires fieldwork which may include overtime, weekends, holidays, and off-hours.

 

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 years minimum experience

 

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Experience with utility pole installation including wood and steel poles both direct embed and concrete foundation preferred

• Experience installing equipment cabinets, antennas, radios, diplexers, coax jumpers, SFP’s, and fiber jumpers

• Must understand AC and DC power with the ability to wire meter bases for utility power and PSU’s for DC power to radios

• Must be able to troubleshoot connectivity (power, fiber, coax) once the equipment is installed and powered

• Experience with cad welding and ground rod installation

• Lineman experience working above primary power preferred

• Ability to drive and properly use bucket trucks as needed to install equipment

• Ability to perform RF and Fiber testing onsite preferred

• Must be confident in construction review and field implementation

• Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

• Ability to work in a team as well as on their own

• Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to speak, write and read English

• Experience towing trailers behind work vehicles

• CDL License preferred and ability to obtain required

 

Essential Functions

• Work with a crew to compile materials and equipment needed for each Jobsite

• When required pick up materials from local suppliers as needed to complete job

• Install antennas, radios, cabinets, and other related RF equipment

• Install coax jumpers, fiber jumpers, SFP’s, and related components

• Set meter base, disconnect, load center, and related conduit

• Pull electrical conductors and/or S/O cable and wire up equipment

• Install equipment cabinets (both ground and pole mount) and make all power and RF/Fiber connections

• Report to crew Foreman and/or Construction Manager daily

• Flexible to work shift work to include night-time maintenance work and weekends when required

• Ability to use standard hand tools, impact guns, antenna azimuth equipment

 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently is required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 75 pounds.

 

Work Environment

Approximately 85-90% of work will be outdoors throughout all seasons with 10% of work being performed in the warehouse as required.

The individual will work with the company’s project team as a Project Coordinator.

The Project Coordinator will be in charge of assisting our Project Manager and Construction Foreman in the organization and conduct of the project. This task involves monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, budgets and expenditures, organizing and participating in client meetings and ensuring project deliverables are submitted in accordance with client requirements.

Required Qualities

Self-directed, the ability to work independently, and being highly-motivated. It is important the right team member can stay focused and carry out their tasks in a timely and accurate manner. They should be detail-oriented, dependable and trustworthy since they come in contact with complex and sensitive documents.

Necessary Skills

The right candidate will have the ability to prioritize, manage time well, multitask and troubleshoot. Strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills are also essential because you will regularly communicate with internal and external business partners.

Job Duties

  • Manage and track company documents

  • They scan, image, organize and maintain documents, adhering to the company's document lifecycle procedures

  • Archive inactive records in accordance with the records retention schedule.

  • A large part of the job is to control the retrieval of documents.

  • Receive and process Requests for Information, or RFIs, from employees or clients and maintain the requests via tracking logs.

  • Assist project managers to develop and maintain documents such as meeting minutes, drawings, specifications, approvals, and related items.

  • Training employees on records management procedures and policies, which include documentation, retention, retrieval, destruction and disaster recovery.

  • Assist with file migrations and audits, and perform administrative tasks as needed.
